: : : : : I don't believe the topic is so much about banking the future on new schools to bring in new jobs as it is the simple plain facts. Let us bring the pencil to the paper here and allow me to put this all into prespective so even narrow minded people can understand.
: : : : : The one main thing wrong in the Armstrong School District is the staffing costs. District wide, it is about 13 to 1 student teacher ratio currently. If we were to move forward and have the buildings to actually handle things, we could see a 17 to 1 or even 19 to 1 ratio while reducing about 45% in overhead i.e. staffing costs. Salaries are about 40 million a year. If we were to reduce the staff by 15%, we'd see a savings of about 6 million dollars a year. Benefits are about 12 million dollars a year. If we were to reduce the staff by 15%, we'd see a savings of about 2 million dollars a year. This math works up to a total savings of 8 million dollars per year. If the staff reduction were by 30%, it would equal to a total savings in overhead of about 15 millon dollars a year. Pencil to paper people, if we moved to a 17 to 1 ratio with only Kittanning, Ford City, and Elderton, we see a total savings in a 20 year time frame of around 175 million dollars. These savings were more than cover the expense of paying for new construction and also giving more money to enhance large scale programs such as the television station. Pencil to paper, this math is simple enough. You claim spend, spend, spend. The studies done aren't through enough. You would find some of the school board would wish to cut out these costly studies altogether. With Mr. Solvak on board, forget that idea though. There's your whole entire problem. The man spends an entire 16 hours or so a week as a college professor, he has more than enough time to conjure up some poison and spoon feed you more BS. I just covered salaries. I didn't put the pencil to paper just how much money we'd save over all with new versus the current. A ball park figure would be well over 150 million in a 20 year window. But you keep being spoon fed your little thoughts, keep thinking high taxes is the fault of those few with enough brains to try to do something however facing people like you hell bent to condemn their every little idea. Hear the whole story, read all the facts, it is public record. If you get your information from the 3 media sources in this county, you're only getting the half truth.........

: :
: : : :
: : : : How many classes are you proposing?

: : : : What is on record is an expanded curriculum, correct?

: : : : One of the reasons is to give more opportunities to kids throughout the ASD, correct?

: : : : So get your paper and pencil out, and tell us how many classes are going to be offered? Are there going to more classes offered?

: : : : If Kittanning has classes that Elderton does not and vice versa, then you will have to bring those classes into the equation. Plus, depending on the types of classes offered, you may not reduce the staffing by those percentages by even 5%. Once again, add to that the ballooning of the transportation costs. Oh, and I am so totally, absolutely sure that this board will look into expanding sports programs, sports fields and facilities, and more crony programs like the television station, the pencil to the paper calculates that to probably cut any savings you proposed.

: : : : This is the same ol' fuzzy math that they have used over and over to buffalo the taxpayers. Seriously, how many of you reading this really think that this board, this spend-happy board, is going to reduce the staffing that much? Instead of cutting the staff, they will bloat the curriculum with "sugar & spice" classes and once again try to keep up with the Fox Chapels and Pine-Richlands while the basics go to hell with bigger classes and the lower standard of kids falling futher and further behind.

: : : : The pencil and the paper spells out more fuzzy math just to spend more money. And trying to say that this board is capable of saving money, come on, look at the history over the past few years. They want to increase spending for a television, just to make money through advertisements. I do not know the answer to this, but I am going to find out how much money they have spent on studies and consultations. Studies and consultations that they have discarded after hearing things they did not like.

: : : : And you notice the tone of these poster(s), very defensive because they want you to believe that they know more than anybody on this board (i.e. the public). This is the metality of the current board, "We think we know more than you, so we will make the decisions for you.)

: : : : The present status of the ASD is in a very dangerous position with these people in charge, Solak included. None of them want to hear from the public. They have drawn their lines in the sand, and they have said to hell with the people they represent.

: : : What part of a PEG channel can not sell advertisement do you illerate, West Virgina rejects not understand? Is it because the "holier than thou" reverand would sell his soul for a dollar that you think this? HELLO! You're not reading it all. The man said staffing cuts! Not classroom cuts, basic cuts, etc. And sports mind you MAKES the school district money. What a bunch of idiots. Carry on The Unknown and give them hell!!!!!!!!!!!!

:
: : And there you see it, when you question them on a subject, you will eventually hit the nerve.

: : The response says it all. Let those pearls of wisdom keep rolling. Pearls of wisdom.

: : I have stated in the past that I am no fan or advocate of any reverend. You and your different personalities keep bringing that up.

: : I am just against the ASD getting involved with some crony program that they disguise as being for the kids but is really a waste of tax dollars for the district.

: : If another group wants to step up and use their own money to start a TV station, that is A-OK with me. But, I am against it when it comes to ASD tax dollars being used to fund this. Think to yourself....Anytime or anything that this current board of directors proposes don't you question it? Do you really trust them? This is what sent red flags up real quick when this issue was proposed. Everybody knew there had to be an ulterior motive behind it.

: : The man said staffing cuts? So what, I do not believe the man?

: : Keep those pearls of wisdom rolling out

: Many personalites? It's nice to see more than one person hasn't been Croylized, Cryzited, Wolfized, O'Harized, Solakized, or Millerized into the beliefs you and many others have been? One day you may too decide not to depend on the Leader Liar, the Horse Shit, and David Life TV for all your news information. Have you ever once sat in on a school board meeting? I have on several occassions. Do you even have a child in the school district? I have one and another two will be attending within the next 6 years. Do you reside in Ford City? If you answer yes to that question, please quit drinking the water. I am not going to condemn Ford City in any way but I believe ole' Solvak has placed his poison in the water and "made" people believe his ways.
: If you have ever sat in on a school board meeting of any kind then you would see where I am trying to point you to. There's people like Solvak with his "idealistic" ways using every corrupt, arm twisting, lying ass, assortment of means to bring his crusade and his area the best. He's not for the best of this school district. He gave the district a black eye with his "Talk Of The Town" segments on Family Life TV station. Irregardless of what David Croyle wishes to state about not being responsiable, he should have enough sense to pull the plug when he sees the slanderious actions and other corrupt behavior of a one man army playing debate with himself. There was no fairness in this sucker punch by Solvak. Yeah, go ahead and defend David Croyle one more time and claim he gave the opportunity for equal time for all directors. He made a phone call 6 hours before ole' Solvak went on his hell bent ways to one school director. That isn't professional courtesy, more like " Dear Lord, I have made an error and need to cover my hind end. What shall I do to retreat and cover my self for my evil ways. " The same prayer I am sure the ole' reverand repeats on an hourly basis as he and his Manson (you know, Charles Manson) like followers play out some sort of " save Family Life TV" crusade while dishing out a bunch of biased, lack of information garabage through the only three media sources in the area. Believe what you will. Maybe the truth will find you one day. Enough of you accusations of who I am or the fact that someone can actually step in and agree with me. You must join with those Croyle, Cryzter, Wolfe, O'Hare, Miller, and Solak followers? It's not what is good for the goose is good for the gander rather it's what is going to make me "holier than thou" by taking a stand upon saving religion. Oh, please don't make me puke....................

Let's strip the untruths from this last fountain of misinformation that you ranted about, because I see clearly now that you are following some type of agenda.

1) Read my past posts. I could care less about Croyle and Family Life. If a private investor, or if the county wanted to start a TV station free of taxpayers money....that is fine with me. I just do not think the ASD is in a postion right now to initiate a TV station. I do not care if it costs $11.00 a year. If somebody else can do the job cheaper, then let them do it. The school district should not be in the TV business. We have a lot more problems with our educational system than some students think they need the experience of running a camera or being in front of it. How many of those types of jobs are out there?

2) I do not drink Solak's water or anybody else's on the ASD board. Once again, read my past posts. Now, just because I think that Rupp and his so-called majority are following a certain agenda does not make me a Solak advocate. i am far from that. I do believe that "the majority" on this board right now have shown that they are incompetent when it comes to the taxpayer's money.
I disagree with Solak and his belief in all community schools, but I sure in the hell do not side with the Rupp cronies who just want to push an agenda despite what the consultants and the people want.

3) I am not a fan of the Leader-Times (Tribune-Review, inc.) Look what they did last week. Are we now going to have the ASD start a newspaper for the district. We can send kids out to be on-site reporters for structure fires and wrecks?

All you are doing is pumping propoganda for the screwed up majority on the ASD board.

Hey, I am all for wiping the slate clean of ALL board members. That would not cause me any pain. The overall truth is that this current board is not looking out for the interests of the students or the taxpayers. They are following the beat of the same drum and following their own agenda.
