: Why bother to build new schools with better equipment, facilities, space, and opportunities to better educate our children so that they go off to college and find work elsewhere and move out of the area, like so many others already have?? And who is left footing the bill for these new schools? Those of us left behind who can barely make ends meet. Unless our county officals get their heads out of their asses (sorry for the language, but it is so true) and does something to save this county, we are just going to slide more and more into this fiery pit of hell called Armstrong County in which we live. No one can survive on "would you like fries with that" or "would you like paper or plastic?" There are jobs outside of the county that pay more, but on our "thank you, drive through" incomes, not one can afford a decent vehicle to get to them!!! I am one of those included! I had an excellent job opportunity a few months back, but I could not take it because I cannot afford decent transportation to get there. It is time that something is done. Probably not in my lifetime. I saw on the news tonight that they want to raise min. wage to $7.15 an hour by 2007. I think it is a total joke. With the cost of living, gas, ect, by the time 2007 rolls around $7.15 will be a joke.
: And why bother to bicker and argue over who gets the DJ job or who will be the next commisioner. Who cares, whoever gets it will find a way to screw everything up more. How about a renovation of our useless Million dollar park??? (ok, not quite a million, but you know what I mean.) I just thought of one, whatever happened to the plans for the doggy poopy park?? Those of you who have been reading this board for a long time will know what I am talking about.
: Ok, off my soapbox. Sorry for the rant.
It is better to educate and have the kids move away than to have them stay here as dumbass' and vandalize the community.
The Kittanning/ Western Pa. area is not employer friendly. That is the bottom line. I live in Texas and the area is booming. And it is not a bunch of $7 an hour BS jobs. Between the unions, taxes and general poor attitiude, why invest in Pennsylvania? It makes no sense. Adam Smith was right , the rules of capitalism play out and unfortunately, the Kittanning area ends up at the bottom. I am from the area and it breaks my heart that I needed to leave in order to make a good living. But its reality. The quicker the school board, area politicians , etc. get their heads out of their butts on this issue the better it will be for everyone.
