: : : I feel that it is not my right to judge someone. I also feel that in our society it is too easy to just pull the switch & kill someone, when all that really is is a bandaid. It doesn't solve any problems. Oh sure, it gets rid of 1 bad guy (or girl), what about the rest of them out there? Something needs to be done to get to the root of the problem and stop people before they go beserk. What needs to be done? I have no idea. But I'd rather see effort put into that than anything else.
: : It's called a "deterrent". If a person KNOWS something bad will happen to them if they do some action, it "may" cause them to think twice. The problem lies with many communities and "ways of life". They're desensitized, yes, but is it due primarily to TV and movies? No, it's because they see it everyday - in real life. So when a person does something and is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, said person should suffer the consequences. It IS a band aid approach, but I bet if you cut yourself, you'll be putting a band aid on as well.
: Well obviously this deterrent (death penalty) isn't working, because crime keeps rising every year.
That's because of bleeding hearts that are afraid to stand up and say enough is enough.
We don't use the death penaly often enough in the US.
I get sick of hearing about the murders here in Reading. I read that so and so was arrested for murder and that they had 6 or 7 prior convictions for assault and durg use / sales and that they are currently on parole or awaiting a trial for some offense. Until we get those idiots off the street it won't be safe for anyone. I could go on but I won't because I'll probably get jumped on by the bleeding hearts on this board.
