Hi Folks:

Stumbled across this little gem while feeding "Mothman" to www.google.com - my favorite search engine...

BENTLEYVILLE, Pa. (AP) -- January 29, 2001 -- The owners of a house where the thriller "The Mothman Prophecies" is being filmed had never heard of Richard Gere.

So Robert and Betty Powell rented some of his movies from a nearby grocery store, including "An Officer and a Gentleman," "Pretty Woman" and "Runaway Bride."

Now they know he is. And they'll let the house be used in the movie - even though they don't like some of the language they heard in Gere's other movies...

The Powells' split-level house in Bentleyville, about 25 miles south of Pittsburgh, will be used for scene in which Gere's character's car breaks down. He goes to their house for help.

Neighbors and friends already are angling to get a glimpse of Gere.

"We're probably going to have some friends we haven't seen in a long time come see us," said the Powells' son, Randy.

The Powells will move into a hotel and were told their house might be made over temporarily with other wallpaper and paint.

"This place won't look the same," Betty Powell said. "That depresses me a little. We'll walk into our own house and not know it."

If anyone is interested, I have included the link for FATE magazine. John Keel, the author of "The Mothman Prophecies," still writes a regular column for FATE. A link to FATEreader, my online paranormal discussion group for the magazine, can be accessed from their website.
