: : : : How does everyone feel about this topic? The school would like to have a television station to enhance our children and maybe lead that into a career choice. They wouldn't be selling advertising or broadcasting religious programming. However, the mighty Family Life TV wishes for this not to happen because it would cost people there jobs and it would affect their television station. How could it? I really want to know this because I can't see how bettering our children and giving them something they might make a career of is going to affect Family Life in anyway. I believe alot of businesses in Armstrong County are too afaird of change> I can note this being a small business owner in the technology field, far too often I hear "we don't want to be any bigger". The same companies who scrape pennies to pay bills. I want an honest opinion here, people. How can the school wishing to give the future of this country a chance to learn the ropes of television affect Family Life?
: : : How much is it going to cost the taxpayer? Someone has to pay for this venture. Will the course be available to all students or just a select few? I think learning the ropes would be better spent on an internship if that is the course a particular student wants to follow. I think the teachers and students need to do a better job on the basics than worry about something extra. We have half the school on some type of honor roll but when they get to college they have to take extra courses just to be able to take a basic college course.I say let Family Life tv keep what they have, I am not against progress but I think somewhere along the line someone is inline to make a quick buck.

: : oSCAR i AM GOING TO HAVE TO AGREE WITH JOE I KNOW SEVERAL SCHOOLS THAT HAVE A TV STATION AND THE EXPENSE WAS MORE THEN THE INTEREST IN IT I TO FEEL THAT THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY COULD BE USED FOR SOMETHING THAT WOULD BENIFIT THE STUDENTS MORE. SORRY
: Okay. Let me clarify a bit here. Aside from the cost to us, the tax payers, which I agree might be more than we can tolerate. The fact it might not benefit every child but then again answer this. What does benefit every child now? You made the claim having to take basic courses once going to college. The issue isn't about tax payer dollars, the school needing it or not needing, or anything relating to the students. The question is this. HOW COULD THE SCHOOL HAVING A TELEVISION STATION DIRECTLY AFFECT FAMILY LIFE TV COSTING PEOPLE THEIR JOBS ETC.?
Furthermore, I do agree with the "I TO FEEL THAT THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY COULD BE USED FOR SOMETHING THAT WOULD BENIFIT THE STUDENTS MORE." I just want to know how could a school having a television be a direct impact to Family Life TV? I honestly don't see how it could be. Most of the programming on Family Life TV is religous, paid for ( Dave Wolfe's show), a freebie ( George Capone's show), or community events produced for free. Their monies for expenses to do the city council and other things comes from advertising, I understand. However, I did understand they are no longer allowed to sale the football programs per the school board. Could this be why they are againest the school having a TV station? Due to a previous conflict?
