Well I've said it before and what the heck, I'll say it again. THe other board has all the options you are requesting. That is why we created it (I did not create it alone).
Just a few options of the other board:
it allows for multiple moderators for every topic who then have the ability to delete posts;
it requires signup with a valid email address in order to post anything on the board;
it logs IP addresses, of those who post, giving you the ability to ban specific IP addresses and/or email addys if people get out of control;
it has profanity filters to guarantee nobody has to see smut, and lots of other capabilities.
When we created this board earlier this year, the intention was to create it and save Carl the time needed to do so, then give it to Carl so he could replace this board with the new & improved one. However, Carl never replaced boards because too many people were busy yelling that I was being arrogant & stealing his spotlight and somehow I became the bad guy (er, gal).
Folks, I want a clean peaceful discussion board just like everyone else. I think people would be pleasantly surprised with the ease, usefulness, and idiot-proofness of the other board. It is also free - no having to pay for the service, no having to pay for someone to clean it up or moderate it. FREE.
It would solve all the problems we continually have here. So rather than berate me for acting on an idea to try another board, maybe check it out & encourage Carl to try it out as well.
: : : : Here we go with this garabage again, I say to myself. Ocassionally, it would be nice to delete this B.S. and I have taken my time to assist Carl in monitoring the board however I can't call him every time someone says f___, ass, etc. A public, open forum with only written rules is hard to control without staying logged into your server 24/7 to erase each and everything possiable offensive post. That would cost money and time, so if everyone would give 5 dollars to Carl maybe he can hire someone to get rid of the trash.
