The Gavran House
280 N. Water St.

In 1864 Simon Truby built this Italianate single family residence with its leaded glass transoms and sidelights, plus featuring the cupola that adds a unique roofline. The wraparound porch also adds distinction but was not part of the original structure.

When Mr. Truby died in 1894, his intent was that it should be used for a YMCA but funds were not sufficient for the purpose. Truby's son-in-law George Reese was able to purchase the house instead.
