The McCain House
300 North McKean St.
This delightful Federal Style building now houses the Armstrong County Historical Society. You may want to take a walk up to the front door and peek inside at the historical treasures, many of them one of a kind as far as we know.
Other treasures are samples of the work done by past crafters from the 1800's and early 1900's - fascinating workmanship!
You can also see many pictures such as the original Kittanning Bridge which was replaced by the existing bridge in 1933; the Arcade department store which you saw on Market St as today's Merchants National Bank. Did I mention the geneology library yet?
Entry to the Historical Museum is free, although donations for upkeep and memberships are graciously accepted. There is a small charge for the use of the geneology records, again used for the preservation of valuable records.

The McCain House was actually built by Thomas McConnell in 1842. It was bought by the McCain family in later years and townsfolk refer to it by the McCain name.
