Down Market Street towards the river, the Merchants National Bank was built in 1886 to house the Arcade, a prosperous department store. The detailing along the top in pressed copper deserves attention, also the ornate scrolling at the corners.
Flanking the Merchants National Bank is the former Kittanning National Bank, also architecturally interesting but much less imposing than its neighbor.
