Downtown Kittanning, Inc.

This community action group consists of volunteers who have a brighter vision of downtown Kittanning and indeed the whole community. Their mission is to preserve the best of the historical values along Market St. and blend in the vitality of new business for the benefit of all the community.
Following a consolidation with the Kittanning Businessmens and Professionals Association, the focus of DKI is to maintain an attractive downtown community and to bring in new customers and merchants. A commitment already exists for new or existing businesses to borrow at prime less 2% for building upgrades and expansion.

In promoting the downtown area in conjunction with the Fort Armstrong Folk Festival, volunteers met at Dizzy Lizzie's to assemble locally informative material for DKI's ad pages in the Leader-Times.

Participants pushed their chairs into a semicircle for just a few seconds during the early morning work session. From left to right are: Liz White of White Enterprises, Barb Sheasley of the Leader-Times, Carl Bromley of Kittanning Dot Com, and Lisa Brumbaugh of the House of Eight Gables Coffee Shop/Bed & Breakfast.

Many of the activities on the Kittanning Calendar are sponsored by DKI or benefit from having DKI members volunteer to help other organizations.
